About a year ago I spent ages downloading Redhat linux 7.1 and when I installed it I found out that It couldn't detect my frickin' modem... is there anyway around this?, other than buying a new modem... I've heard about something called 'Whine' what is that?.... I like redhat linux but I can't have it installed due to not detected modem but if It wasn't for that then I'd run it.

Might get lindows..... ;)

My modem is a Rockwell, it's MDP3858-E Modem, the cool thing is when I connect to the internet I've made it so it doesn't do the dial up sound....

It'd be great to sort out the modem problem then I'd not use winblowz :D

Anyway I've edited my signature and yeah I went abit over the top with it....I've trimmed it down to one image and one quote. :) http://www.bobb320.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/buttrock.gif

Ive tried to get to the bottom of your problem, but its all Double dutch to me !!

Here is a good link that you may be interested in Linux forum (http://linuxnewbie.org/forum/).

I can't understand why you want it though, because all your programs that work on windows wont work on linux.

Hope you sort it out

Dave :D

Red hat mmmmmmm ok Whine is a win32 emulater it allows you to install and run win32 apps on linux systems as for modem drivers for redhat 7 you may have a hard time finding them if any. The best supported linux system currently is mandrake as this has more divice support than redhat or try redhat 9.0 which has just been released.

hope this helps see ya all at the pub on saturday
